Product Management Intern - Pharmacy

Job Description

What’s Product Management in Pharmacy at Wellmark? The Wellmark Pharmacy Team is responsible for designing and delivering pharmacy benefits and drug cost containment solutions for our groups and members. This includes development and maintenance of custom formularies and utilization management, rebate strategies, PBM management and oversight, education and consultation with clients and consultants, education and communications for members and providers, support of client RFPs and audits, and benefit oversight, testing, and remediation. We are looking to hire a product management intern to help support the planning, execution and delivery of products across our pharmacy team.    

What projects might I support?  Although subject to change, examples of projects are included below: 

  • Assist in the development and curate business cases for pharmacy product team.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and maintain Wellmark’s pharmacy roadmap to promote the vision of pharmacy to include the creation of materials to explain to all levels of employees
  • Apply agile methodology in pre-planning and planning of pharmacy’s PI (planning interval) event
  • Desire to strengthen business acumen in health care industry and self-driven team environment

This internship will start in May of 2025, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines. 

Qualifications

  • Current junior, senior or grad student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Finance, Project Management, Statistics or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate recommendations to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated computer skills with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships of collaboration and trust
  • Effective facilitation, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills, self-starter, ability to prioritize and multi-task

Preferred:  

  • Prior internship or office experience
