Job Description
What is the Technology & Experience Analytics team? The Technology & Experience Analytics team provides analysis, reporting, and advanced analytics to various stakeholders within Wellmark’s Technology division. The team works with a wide range of complex data sources, including web/app utilization, IT labor and financials, claims, customer service, survey data, and more. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of analysts to transform data into actionable insights that support operational decision-making and enhance customer experiences.
What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of projects are included below:
- Production and support of analytical reporting/dashboards for executive decision support.
- Ad-hoc data analysis efforts to answer business/operational questions.
- Extract, analyze, and interpret data using SQL dialects, statistical programming languages, and various BI reporting tools.
- Create data visualizations using tools like Power BI.
- Report and presentation development.
- Healthcare technology research and report development.

This internship will start in May of 2025, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.
Qualifications
- Current junior or senior student studying Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related STEM field.
- Knowledge of data management and analytics practices with exposure to business intelligence, reporting, or analytics platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop proactive solutions.
- Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to make recommendations by translating data analysis insights into decisions and actions.
- Proven ability to work in a deadline driven, fast paced environment.
Preferred:
- Prior internship or office experience.
- Previous experience with Power BI or Tableau.
- Previous experience with SQL dialects and/or statistical programming languages.
