Student-Athlete Academic Services - Learning Assistant

Student -Athlete Academic Services is currently seeking to fill vacant Learning Assistant positions within their office for the Fall 2024 semester and potentially beyond. Learning Assistants provide an additional layer of academic support to student-athletes. They are assigned to work in a small group or one-on-one sessions with student-athletes based on the students’ individual needs. These appointments are designed to assist the student in enhancing their skill sets in many of the following areas: time management, organization, note taking, test taking, study skill development, reading, writing, and other academic skills as needed. Additionally, Learning Assistants are asked to communicate student progress and/or concerts to Student-Athlete Academic Services staff so that the proper resources can be identified to address the students’ academic needs. Learning Assistants may also routinely check students’ syllabi for assignment details and due dates, check the students’ notes for accuracy, monitor attendance, comprehension, and confirm completion of the previous weeks’ work. All appointments take place in-person but can occasionally move to a virtual format in response to weather, illness, or other necessary circumstance. Day, evening, and weekend part-time hours are available.

The deadline for application is open until all positions are filled. The pay rate for this position is contingent upon education and prior tutoring/teaching experience. No prior experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.  New hires will be required to attend mandatory trainings.
