
Tax Intern (Rising Seniors)
Department Overview
The Tax Department is led by the Senior Director of Tax who is supported by one Tax Senior Manager, four Tax Managers, three Tax Senior Associates and three Tax Accountants. The Tax Department works very closely with Golub Capital’s Fund Accounting Teams which are comprised of ~80 people. Other important intercompany relationships include Investor Communications and Investor Relations, Strategic Accounting and Finance, Operations, Technology Solutions and the Deal Teams.
The Tax Department is responsible for the Firm’s tax reporting. This includes a mix of partnerships and corporations, US and foreign entities, public and private Registered Investment Companies (“RICs”) and blocker corporations. We also facilitate the preparation and review of investor K-1s in coordination with a Big 4 public accounting firm. It is our mission to provide timely, relevant and accurate tax reporting to our investors, as well as to our Executive Management Team which enables them to make important tax decisions on behalf of the funds.
Position Responsibilities
The Tax Intern’s primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Help to facilitate the company’s tax compliance for all funds and related entities which includes partnerships, blocker corporations, BDC / RICs, general partnerships and management companies. These entities are both US and foreign-based.
- Achieve an understanding of the Tax Department processes and procedures and update documentation as needed.
- Assist with process improvement and automation projects.
- Assist in reviewing tax notices from various jurisdictions.
- Prepare W-9s / W-8s for new entities and help maintain internal database of valid tax forms
- Ad-hoc projects and requests
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Rising senior attending university interested in finance, accounting or tax
- Pursuing CPA
- Ability to work full-time for 10-week duration from approximately early-June through mid-August
- Working knowledge / proficiency with Excel
- Ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment, manage time and priorities under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication, analytical and detail-orientation skills
- Abide by our work-in-office policy then in effect
