The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa (Iowa’s Environmental and Public Health Laboratory) has an Environmental Analyst opening in the Ankeny Laboratory.  This is a six-month term appointment and will run from approximately May/June 2025 through October/November 2025. 

THIS IS A FULL TIME, SIX-MONTH TERM POSITION. This position does not offer accommodations.

LOCATION: ANKENY, IOWA

SCHEDULE: M-F 7:00am–3:30pm.

PAY: $20 per hour

JOB DUTIES:

* Collecting water, biological, and wastewater samples from rivers, streams, lakes, and industries and performing various analyses on samples in the field and laboratory. 

* Extensive travel across Iowa may be required. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

·       The candidate should have or be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, Ecology, Animal Ecology, Environment Science, or a related discipline with an emphasis in aquatic science or fisheries.

·       Must have good verbal and written communication skills and a valid driver’s license. 

DESIRED SKILLS:

·       Experience with collection of surface water samples, wastewater samples, routine analytical procedures, electrofishing, and invertebrate collection.
