Minneapolis Park Corps - City-Wide Placement
Position Summary:
Minneapolis Park Corps provides young adults opportunities to develop job and life skills while earning income and exploring interests in supportive employment experiences in our parks and the outdoors.
This role is for people 18-24 years old and is supported by dedicated Youth Employment and Training staff, and MPRB Recreation staff. This entry-level position requires participation in and completion of a training curriculum that includes financial empowerment, professionalism, personal development, and career exploration topics. This is a pilot program with details and program design subject to change.
The City-Wide Programs Placement will shadow and assist members of MPRB’s Recreation teams to gain experience and assist with various city-wide recreation-based camps and programs in different locations throughout the city.
Hours:
32-40 hours/week
3/3/25 – 9/5/25
Required Skills and Abilities:
Participate in employment and work readiness trainings as assigned by Youth Employment and Training staff.
Receive training on how to plan, prepare and lead fun, hands-on, recreation programs that promote high-quality experiences for young participants.
Receive training and assist in overseeing participants’ safety and well-being, while helping to facilitate their interactions with others and their surroundings using MPRB’s principles of respect and responsibility.
Receive training in and assist in providing high-quality customer service and communication with parents/guardians and positive relationships with participants.
Receive training in and assist in engaging and encouraging campers in learning and positive experiences.
Assist in set up and clean up at the end of each day.
Perform related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
18-24 years old
Some prior work experience
Open to receiving training and direction
Reliable transportation with the ability to get to a different park locations
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with kids
Previous experience or interest in organized sports, e-sports, STEAM activities or Outdoor/Art camps
Compensation: $17/hr, a background investigation is required for this position
