6-8 Choir Teacher - Timberline (25/26)

Terms of Employement: 194 or 196 days, depending on experieince within WCSD

Position Criteria:

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license with 5-12 Music endorsement
  • Experience with middle level learners
  • Demonstrate aptitude for performing tasks listed
  • Must exhibit ethical practices and be a role model to students
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Position Critera:

  1. Serve as primary director of one non-varsity Show Choir or a Jazz Choir
  2. Create calendar, reserve facilities for rehearsals and performances, and prepare for the year’s vocal music events to include:
    • 2-3 curricular concerts during school year
    • 3-5 Show Choir or Jazz Choir performances for the co-curricular ensemble in bullet #1
  3. Create schedule for staff which may include accompanist and show choir choreographer
  4. Organize schedules, parent volunteers, budgets, and other administrative duties for Show Choir or Jazz Choir
  5. Order and maintain inventory of costumes, repertoire, and equipment
  6. Coordinate bus/transportation needs for rehearsals, performances, competitions, and other events as applicable
  7. Prepare 6th Grade students for, coordinate, and supervise student participation at events to include:
    • Opus Honor Choir auditions and festival or similar experience
  8. Assist with hosting the feeder high school’s Show Choir/Jazz Choir Invitational
  9. Communicate with guardians, community, staff, administration, and other stakeholders regarding schedules, competitions, transportation, etc. 
  10. Collaborate with facility support staff as needed including Operations and Performing Arts Center Management
  11. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the District
