Purpose Statement
The job of the Executive Director of Student Services oversees the Division of Student Services to guarantee and ensure the vision, mission, and core values of the district. The Division of Student Services includes: the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, School Leadership, MTSS, and Special Services.
This Job reports to the Superintendent of Schools.
Essential Functions
Oversee curriculum instruction and assessment program and related departments for the purposeof achieving organizational objectives while complying with special services established requirements.
Oversees the suspension and expulsion of students for the purposeof providing a recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
Oversee registration, boundary waivers,and enrollment of students acrossthe district for the purposeof providing staffing recommendations in schools and instructional programs.
Compile data from internal and external groups for the purpose of analyzing issues,ensuring compliance with federal, state,and district policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
Collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external groups(e.g., department heads,auditors, community organizations, regulatory agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing program components; creating long and short-term plans; and addressing organizational objectives.
Supervise various schools and programs to ensure high quality services to students and families.
Develop a wide variety of documents and presentation materials (e.g.,plans, proposals, policies, budgets, grant opportunities, procedures, forms, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Facilitate meetings that frequently involve a range of issues (e.g., personnel and financial procedures, textbook adoption, division appeals, regulatory requirements, requestsfrom outside agencies, interdepartmental needs, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, developing recommendations, guiding, and supporting other staff, and serving as District representative.
Perform a variety of personnel functions (e.g., recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, supervising, grievances, appeals, etc.) for the purposeof maintaining adequatestaffing, enhancing personnel productivity, and achieving objectives within budget.
Serve as a decision maker and a level of appeal to a wide varietyof complex issuesfor the purpose of addressing the curriculum, instruction assessment, and special services needs of the district.
Research a wide variety of topics related to curriculum, instructions, and assessment (e.g., policies, best practices; trends, legislation, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established requirements, securing generalinformation for planning, taking action, and/orresponding to requests.
Respond to a wide variety of inquiries from internal and external sourcesfor the purposeof identifying relevant issues and recommending or implementing action plans.
Support the Superintendent, Board,and department administrators for the purposeof developing and implementing services and programs and achieving operational goals.
Other Functions
Performs other related dutiesas assigned for the purposeof ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
