Hydration Technician Student Assistant with Iowa Football

Job Details:

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks to hire 4-6 students to assist at football practice Staring Fall 2025

The purpose of this job is to aid in all aspects of hydration for the student athletes during practices and games. The qualified person will report in a timely manner to prepare and set up equipment for practice. During practice, student hydration technician will provide hydration as directed by the staff to assigned student athletes, coaches, and staff. At the end of practice, the hydration technician will remove and clean up equipment from the field and report any problems associated with the day. The successful applicants will possess a high degree of trust and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Arrives at designated time and be prepared to work.
• Maintains a positive work attitude and is responsive to direction.
• Maintain complete confidentiality about all aspects of football practice
• Follow HIPAA/FERPA - online training available

Before Practice:

• Follow directions for successful preparation.
• Gather supplies for practices
• Monitor and track all hydration equipment

During Practice:

• Follow directions for successful distribution of hydration.
• Maintain equipment and ensure the safety of student athletes with successful handling of equipment.
• Monitor hydration supplies.
• Report problems in a timely manner with utmost discretion to the appropriate person.
• All communication with student athletes is related to your role as a hydration technician.

After Practice:

• Clean hydration equipment.
• Return hydration equipment to designated locations.
• Report all problems associated with equipment.

Injuries:

• Report all injuries or potential injuries to athletic trainers.
• This position requires no interactions on injuries.
• This position will spend little to no time in the athletic training room.
