Technical Assistant

WHAT WE NEED: 

  • Sets up and installs personal work stations, laptops, tablets, mobile devices.
  • Communicates regularly with the Building Administration to address building technology issues.
  • Performs Service Desk ticket resolution as assigned.
  • Troubleshoots basic network issues before escalating to the NOC team.
  • Educates end users and provides technical assistance and support to end users on the application of technologies and resolution of technical issues.
  • Installs required workstation software.
  • Maintains district software and hardware.
  • Provides onsite, in-person support for classroom technologies.
  • Establishes and builds rapport with both instructional and non-instructional staff.
  • Performs and maintains asset inventory.
  • Maintains required documentation.
  • Troubleshoots copier, printer/fax issues before escalating.
  • Provides back-up support to the Service Desk function.
  • Performs moves, additions, and changes to network user accounts.
  • Conducts research to better support and implement technology for the district.
  • Coordinates vendor assistance for technical questions, issues and support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU NEED: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of similar or related experience preferred.
  • A+ Certification preferred 
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation. 
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and use various tools involved in the installation of computer equipment and other office equipment.

 

SALARY DETAILS:

$18.27 - $21.18 hourly based on relevant prior work experience, with the potential to earn up to $22.80 after employment with Oakland Schools. 

Non Exempt position / 12-month work year.
