Department Title: Undergrad Intern – Global Diversity Equity & Inclusion

 

Location: The intern candidate must be able to work remotely from the following locations, or optionally commute into the office on a weekly basis in either Baltimore, MD, Boston, MA, or Stamford, CT.  

 

 

Position Summary: 

 

The seven-person Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) at Franklin Templeton cultivates an inclusive environment at the firm and fosters a culture that encourages employees to bring their authentic selves to work. Our role is to support the advancement of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion across our global organization.

 

Our approach to DE&I is defined by our enterprise-wide DE&I goals, pillars, focus, and strategic imperatives – you will be working in support of these during your time with the team. This includes:

 

  • Supporting our People – initiatives or programs that support our objective to diversify our leadership pipeline by attracting, developing and retaining underrepresented talent

 

  • Supporting inclusive Practices – initiatives or programs that build an inclusive workplace and seek to establish and integrate inclusive and equitable human resource practices

 

  • Supporting our Public commitment to DE&I – through the creation of strategic partnerships which provide additional access to opportunities in across the investment management industry

 

 

Key Responsibilities Can Include:

 

 

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of inclusive leadership training programs, toolkits and learning materials for employees and senior leaders to embed inclusive leadership practices in their teams.
  • Conduct analysis of the results of workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion surveys and highlight themes and recommendations for the company to address.
  • Conduct research on regional DE&I trends, policies, regulatory requirements and market research on DE&I in financial services, to support the development of localized DE&I strategies.
  • Support DE&I team with event planning and execution for workshops, speaker series, recruiting and volunteer events, and leadership forums.
  • Develop internal communications, content, and engagement plan (e.g., newsletters, social media, presentations) to promote DE&I programs and awareness.
  • Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned, ensuring flexibility to contribute to evolving priorities within the DE&I team.

 

 

Ideal Qualifications:

 

  • Good interpersonal skills – ability to collaborate with stakeholders and represent the DE&I team professionally.
  • Passion for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – strong interest in advancing DE&I within a corporate environment.
  • Analytical & research skills – ability to gather insights, analyze data, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Effective verbal & written communication – ability to craft reports, presentations, and communicate ideas clearly.
  • Project management & organizational skills – ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability & problem-solving skills – ability to navigate challenges and find creative solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite – familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools.
  • Global & cultural awareness or interest in learning– understanding of regional DE&I considerations and cultural nuances.
  • Eagerness to learn and a desire to be a team player – proactive mindset with a willingness to take on new challenges

Compensation Range: This is a full-time internship where students will work approximately 37.5-40 hours per week and earn competitive hourly pay of $26 - $30 USD per hour. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation.
