Internship Opportunity: Events and Marketing Intern

United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties is seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our team as an Events and Marketing Intern. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in event planning, community engagement, marketing, and donor relations while making a positive impact on our community.

Position Details

  • Hours: 20 hours/week; occasional evenings or early morning required for special events
  • Duration: Summer, Fall, or Spring
  • Location: In-person at United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties

 

Key Responsibilities

As an Events and Marketing Intern, you will work closely with our team to:

  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, donor recognition events, and community engagement activities
  • Manage event logistics, take photographs, and ensure smooth event operations
  • Support donor acknowledgment processes and assist with donor communications
  • Help develop promotional materials for fundraising campaigns
  • Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Etc.) and update the organization's website
  • Assist with mailings and administrative tasks as needed
  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improving our programs and initiatives

 

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Docs, Design software such as Canva; experience with EventBright, Droople, GiveLively or other donor platforms
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently on projects
  • Comfortable representing the organization at community events
  • Previous experience in public relations, marketing, graphic design, or event planning preferred
  • Reliable transportation is required
