UHD - Catering Lead - Hancher
BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the operation of scheduled shifts including opening/closing, set-up, service, and clean-up of Shownight and Catering events. Make independent decisions and exercise good judgment in absence of a supervisor. Provide leadership and serve as a professional role model.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, oversee and coordinate Hancher Associate and Catering staff’s activities including timely packing, set-up, service, and clean-up of all assigned Shownight Concessions and Catering events with or without supervision.
- Delegate tasks, provide direction and inspect the work of student staff to ensure complete and correct execution.
- Knowledgeable of Hancher site specific set up including:
- Shownight Concession and Operation and Catering Events at Hancher.
- Set up and Operating the Hancher Pre Order System
- Set up of Backstage Crew and Artist Catering Orders including Riders and Post Show Events
- Phone employees when necessary. Communicate all information regarding tardiness, absences, and exemplary behavior to supervisors.
- Participate in orientations of new student employees and train new employees in various positions.
- Responsible for handling and securing alcohol during Show nights and Catering events.
- After fully reading and reviewing the event BEO ask clarifying questions as needed.
- Responsible for checking out keys and returning them to the proper location.
- Ensure all items needed on BEO for the event are delivered on time and to the appropriate locations.
- Get ahold of drivers and kitchen in case something is forgotten or damaged during transportation.
- Prepare return carts for Delivery pick up.
- Establish communication with clients right away, go over timeline together, and ensure confidence.
- Handle requests and inquiries from customers with a confident and positive manner. Go above and beyond to please the customer and provide excellent customer service.
- Complete a detailed supervisor report and send to appropriate individuals.
- Direct, assign, and participate in the completion of the closing list.
- Make independent decisions and exercise good judgement in the absence of a supervisor.
- Knowledge of proper usage, cleaning, fixing, and returning of food and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as necessary, always asking for help when needed!
- Must be a motivated self-starter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and be positive and respectful in working with a diverse population.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of one semester working as a Hancher lead for University Catering.
- Must be available to work evenings, early mornings, and/or weekends and be okay with flexible schedules.
- Must be flexible schedule and be available to work a majority of Scheduled Hancher Show nights or events, at finals week, and holiday breaks as needed.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week.
- Exhibit excellent communications skills, written and verbal, and be positive and respectful while working in a diverse environment.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to move up to 20 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Demonstrate commitment to excellent customer service.
WORK HOURS
- This position is limited to up to 20 hours per week (320 hours per semester). May work up to 40 hours per week during break periods (spring, summer, fall and winter) as assigned.
