Our students are survivors of severe hardship, and the vast majority face housing insecurity. Project Rousseau addresses the full scope of our students’ needs through integrated programming that includes education, legal services, enrichment opportunities, and social support.

 

Position Overview

Project Rousseau seeks a mission-driven Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team. This role is integral to providing holistic, trauma-informed care to our students and their families as they navigate complex challenges, including housing instability, food insecurity, healthcare access, nontraditional education paths, and immigration-related trauma.

The Social Worker will provide direct support to young people and collaborate closely with staff across Project Rousseau’s programs, including Immigration Legal Services, to ensure clients receive comprehensive, coordinated services. This position offers the opportunity to provide wraparound services for highly vulnerable youth. 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Client Support

    • Provide clinical and case management services to youth and families, addressing immediate needs and long-term goals in areas such as housing, healthcare, food access, education, and family reunification.

       
    • Develop and implement individualized service plans using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.

       
    • Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide ongoing counseling as needed.

       
  • Systems Navigation & Advocacy

    • Assist clients in navigating public benefits, education systems, and healthcare access.

       
    • Advocate on behalf of and with clients with schools, service providers, and government agencies.

       
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration

    • Partner with Project Rousseau’s legal team to support immigrant youth and unaccompanied minors, including those seeking asylum or SIJS.

       
    • Lead case coordination meetings and contribute to integrated service strategies.
    • Collaborate with Project Rousseau’s Academic and Broadening Horizons staff to ensure that young people have the resources that they need to excel. 

       
  • Program Development & Outreach

    • Identify service gaps and propose new programming or partnerships to address them.

       
    • Facilitate group workshops on select topics

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
    • Active New York State LCSW license.
    • Minimum of three years’ experience as a social worker since completion of the MSW
    • Demonstrated commitment to working with young people from under-resourced communities.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, youth development, and community-based services.

       
  • Preferred:

    • Previous experience supervising MSW students, including a Seminar in Field Instruction or Seminar in Practicum Instruction, or willingness to undertake this training.
    • Experience supporting unaccompanied minors, asylum seekers, or undocumented youth.
    • Conversational in a second language relevant to Project Rousseau’s students, including but not limited to, Spanish, French, Pulaar, Persian, Arabic, or Haitian Creole (fluency preferred, or willingness to pursue language development).
    • Familiarity with New York City public services and benefit systems.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $65-$85,000 per year
  • ICHRA Healthcare Reimbursement plan
