What I liked

I can't recommend Camp Bear Creek enough! God has brought so much joy and so many happy memories into my life through my time in this place. The daily activities and games are always so much fun, but nothing can compare to the deep friendships and genuine community I've found. Working at Camp Bear Creek gave me so many amazing experiences and strengthened my ability to be a leader. This experience is invaluable for anyone pursuing a career in education or childcare, and so many of the skills you build will translate to any field. My time at camp has been so influential to my identity as a Christian as well. I would be hard-pressed to recall another time in my life when my faith has been so thoroughly examined, tried, and, in the end, deeply strengthened. If you are thinking about working at Camp Bear Creek, I would highly recommend it. It's sure to be an unforgettable experience!

What I liked

Camp Bear Creek has been a huge part of my life. I was a camper for twelve years and have been on staff for two, and I plan to continue working there as long as I can. One of the things that keeps me coming back is the amazing community that surrounds and is a part of camp. Having that community and getting to spend time in nature, strengthening our relationship with God is such an amazing way to spend the summer.

What I wish was different

The swimming pool needs some major help, but I know that is part of the 25 year plan to update camp. Other than that, there isn't really anything I'd wish was different. I've had incredible experiences at camp in my time there.

Advice

It's a lot of hard work, and the days are long, but it is one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had.

Rotational Leadership Development Intern

What I liked

Camp Bear Creek (which used to be Camp Wyoming), was once my playground as a camper for nine years, became my second home. From my path as a camper, I moved onto becoming a volunteer. I loved it so much I came back to become a staff member. It's not just a camp; it's a transformative journey. Being surrounded by nature helped deepened my connection to the outdoors, and helped my faith flourish. The supportive staff and lasting friendships make working or volunteering here an unforgettable experience. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone seeking personal growth and community to consider the profound impact of Camp Bear Creek.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish had been different during my time at Camp Bear Creek was the absence of the high ropes course. They plan on building one for Summer 2024. However, I can't express a single negative sentiment about this job. Working at Camp Bear Creek is a profound journey of self-discovery and interpersonal growth. It serves as an invaluable opportunity for personal development, constantly challenging you to solve problems and navigate through various situations.

Advice

Get ready for some long hours and hard work at this camp, but trust me, it's worth it for the incredible connections you'll make. It's a really positive place to be employed, and you'll be glad you chose to work here. I've made lifelong friends at this camp, and it's a great break from social media – a nice change of pace.

Camp Counselor

What I liked

It's a fun job, you get to spend a lot of time with kids and do goofy stuff. You also get free meals throughout the week and good soft skills.

What I wish was different

You get very little time off, and the contract is pretty shaky on what your requirements are, so my boss could basically ask me to do anything.

Advice

Having fun at a job is important, but if you're going to do a job that won't necessarily contribute to your career (like this), then make sure the fun you're having is worth it, especially because the pay isn't phenomenal.
