CARE

Epidemiology Intern

June - August 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I loved learning about biostatistics and machine-learning. I also loved having complete independence on this project.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had access to more advanced biostatistics methods, which is why I am taking applied biostatistics now.

Advice

Make sure that you indicate to your supervisor if you want more autonomy on a project. When I demonstrated responsibility, I was able to take complete control of my project. My advisor was available when I needed help.

Global Innovation Hub Intern

June - December 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I really got the chance to explore and learn on this internship. It really defied the stereotypical experience of making copies, or getting coffee. The work I did was meaningful and helped me determine the career path I want to go on. I learned the things aI like and don't like in a work environment. Great boss, great people.

What I wish was different

Advice

It is not a lot of pay, look at this as a more experiential learning opportunity.

Internal Communications Intern

August - December 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I loved the flexibility of my schedule and the comfortable work environment that I was provided.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more experience working with a variety of departments within CARE during my time there.

Advice

Make sure to keep an open mind when working here. A lot of the projects I was tasked with, I had no experience in but I was able to get feedback on what I could work on in the future in order to add those skills for jobs.
