I like learning more about the hospital environment and learning how to be a listening ear to the patients who just need a chance to have a friendly conversation. I loved having the days when I could see someone who was going through a painful experience smile.
What I wish was different
I honestly wish I would have started this sooner or have given myself more time to gain as much time as possible, rather than just focusing on what I "need" to complete any sort of program.
Advice
I would advise anyone considering volunteering for the position to be ready to talk to patients about anything. Sometimes the patients who are in there do not have people come in to visit them and they are in need of some sort of normal human interaction rather than only conversating with nurses and doctors.
