What I liked

Moximed had a very good work culture. I did not feel pressured to spend more than an 8-hour day unless it became absolutely necessary to do so in order to meet deadlines. My coworkers were exceptionally well-mannered and friendly, and casual enough to have fun with. It was a rewarding experience if for no other reason than introducing me to some very hardworking and capable people while simultaneously showing me that there is space for a more healthy work-life balance in the startup age.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been saddled with less responsibility off the bat and that I had time to work with my typical skill set. I was put in charge of some key testing for FDA approval, which felt like a little more responsibility than I was ready for at the time I began. That said, I learned quickly and performed adequately, so it was useful nonetheless. Further, I worked primarily as an experimental technician despite most of my primary strengths being in design, specifically with the use of solidworks. However, it was a good chance to widen my circle of applicable skills, and I now feel much more comfortable with benchmarking and testing.

Advice

Get to know your supervisors! My supervisors at Moximed took the time to get to know me, and vice versa. Because of that, I felt comfortable expressing when I felt I needed help. Further, I have contacts with two professionals I can rely on in the future, who both have good opinions of me.
