Research and Development Intern

June - August 2018 • East Lansing, MI

What I liked

Near campus. Related to my studies. They also hire other young interns in the Summer. Can take days off. Learned a lot about the good and the bad side of R and D.

What I wish was different

Pay was very low. No stipend for travel, relocation.

Advice

Neogen is a great place to start a career in the biotech industry. It is a good source to let employers know that you have industry lab experience. However, the pay is low compared to many other internships. A summer internship in Neogen will give you enough material to satisfy Med Schools on research outside of your university. I also feel that if you really want to make it a great experience, ask a lot of interesting questions and reach out to other teams in Neogen. Ask if you can help on other projects, do your work on a timely manner and always look engaged. There is always something to learn at Neogen since there are so many teams and little projects that everyone is independently working on. I would recommend it to young scientist. If your Summer team allows, and if you have earned it, they will let you work part-time during the school year. But that's based on if they have open positions for you.

Advice
